Island Camping With Sea, Sand, Sun, and Stars

To get to this unique location, you will need to take about a 3 mile boat ride. The island is part of the system of islands off the coast of mainland North Carolina. You will find white sandy beaches, with plenty of places to set up camp. You can climb the lighthouse located on the beach and take in the views. Because the night sky is so dark, it is the perfect place for stargazing from your campsite, where the night sky is awash with starlight. For those with a keen sense of adventure, you will not be disappointed.  Other activities include: 

• Canoeing and Kayaking 

• Swimming and Sunbathing

• Birdwatching

• Fishing

• 4 wheel driving (bring your own with ferry access in certain locations) 

• Seashell hunting 

• Ranger guided tours and nature trails

In most situations you do not need a permit to camp, however if you have a party of 25 or more one will be required.
