One-Pot Campfire Mac and Cheese
Use These Cooking Timesavers to Make This Family Favorite
If you are an avid camper then you already know the value of the one-pot meal. In addition to easier cleanup, it is a simple way to make this hearty, family-favorite to satisfy your dinner cravings! Let's throw in a couple of great camping hacks and you've got yourself an easy meal that everyone will love. Try this fast and friendly dish with your family on your next camping endeavor.
What you need to bring:
- 2 1/2 cups whole milk
- 1 cup water
- 2 cups macaroni noodles
- 1 Tbsp unsalted butter
- 2 1/2 cups grated cheddar cheese
- 1/2 tsp dry mustard powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/8 tsp ground black pepper
One clever way you can save yourself time is to pre-measure the ingredients first. The milk and water can be put into recyclable water bottles and the noodles, cheese, and butter into plant-based ziplock bags (which are eco-friendly). In addition, you can put the spices into a pill dispenser or even a tic tac container and label each so you can reuse them. By doing these steps ahead of time, once your campfire is ready to go, you can just conveniently pull them out.
Now to Put it All Together
Get your fire going or turn your grill to medium-high heat.
Pour milk and water into a medium pot and bring to a boil, then add the macaroni noodles and stir. Cook the noodles, stirring often, until tender, about 7 to 10 minutes.
Take the pot off the fire or grill and immediately stir in butter, grated cheese, mustard powder, salt, and pepper. Mix well so the noodles are cheesy, creamy, and delicious. Serve hot.
