Camping on clay is one very challenging substrate!  It can be a bit like Russian roulette where the clay could be cracked rock hard dry or wet and sludgy only inches down.  GroundGrabba Pro and Pro II are the perfect clay ground anchors that can match that challenge!

If you want to keep a structure secure on clay ground there are a few factors to consider. Often in environments where there is clay ground, there are few trees, possibly none like out at Black Rock Desert in Nevada or the Sonoran Desert in Arizona. Camping or erecting a structure in a sparse environment can be challenging because of the high winds associated with these open areas. Whenever there is a chance of high winds securely anchoring your structure becomes a primary concern.

Depending on how much rain there is clay substrates change, they can be really hard and dry one day and after a bit of rain turn into a soft sludge. Traditional ground anchoring techniques may work ok for either of these situations, but in our experience, never both.

If the clay is super hard it is best to use the GroundGrabba Pro and if it is super hard then we recommend you drill a pilot hole. GroundGrabba Pro

GroundGrabba Pro for your clay ground anchors and all rounder for most of your camping or outdoor anchoring needs. Made of Galvanized heat treated carbon steel it has a lifetime replacement warranty. For use in most substrate types soft to very hard. In extremely hard desert ground you may need to drill a pilot hole as you would if you were to want to put a screw  into concrete.

HexHook Pro Lag bolt Hook

The HexHook Pro Lag Bolt Hook is an adaptor plate that slides over the top of the hex head of your GroundGrabba or Lag Bolt to make it easy to secure ropes or other tensioning devices.  At one end is the hook and the other is a 3/4" hex tool as part of the key slot.  Oh... and if you need to open your beer... they're great for that too!

Use Your Cordless Battery Drill

Today we take solar panels, deep cycle batteries, inverters and of course the cordless battery drill. We through all the equipment in the back of the pick up and head out on our camping adventure. From Solar Panels and deep cycle batteries to coffee machines and of course the reliable trusty cordless drill (don't forget your charger).
