GroundGrabba Pro and pro II are the ultimate desert ground anchors. The rugged elements and gusty winds will prove no problem for your 10x10, 10x20 pop up canopies, gazebos, easy ups or tents!
Whenever we are about to head out for a desert camping experience there is so much on our minds. Water, food, the right clothing, supplies and accessories. Deserts are a desolate place and if you aren't prepared, or are not a brilliant improviser or things might not go so well.
The Best Thing Is
And want to know what the best thing about GroundGrabbas are? Well, what we personally love? It is not the awesome holding capacity, It's not that you can let your cordless drill do the hard work driving them into the hard desert substrate. It's not that you can all but throw your hammer away. No, it's none of that, it's how easy and super fast it is to get them out of the ground! No more back breaking tedious work in the furiously hot desert sun. You want to pack up fast and get back into your truck with the ac on full blast.
Varied Desert Types and Conditions
With high day temperatures and low night temperatures, much of the activity during a desert camping trip can be in the evenings sitting around a fire, or in the early mornings before the day warms up. Along with the extreme temperatures of the desert environment wind, dust and sand become a factor to consider when planning for your trip.
Since there is little vegetation in desert environments winds can really pick up, carrying with them lots of sand and dust. To prepare for this taking along a durable tent that seals well is important. Keeping your tent with you for the duration of your stay is equally important, for this some quality ground anchoring is required. Traditional tent stakes just don't meet the mark in sandy ground and can be just plain impossible to use in hard clay desert ground of the playa like at Black Rock Desert. The GroundGrabba's spiral-shaped flights are ideal for anchoring in loose substrates like desert sand also.
Depending on the size of the tent, canopy or other structure you would like to anchor we have various options available. The longer GroundGrabba Pro II is suitable for large tents or structures that require serious anchoring. Our GroundGrabba Pro is suited for small to medium size tents and smaller structures. Both do a brilliant job and anchoring requirements can easily be increased by adding a few more to secure your structure. Our GroundGrabba Pro is not recommended for sand where the GroundGrabba Pro II thrives.
Why GroundGrabba's are great in the Desert
Their flights allow GroundGrabba's to remain securely anchored in the sand or hard clay or loose rocky ground when pulled from any angle (use the right GroundGrabba for the right job). Traditional tent stakes don't have the same anchoring abilities, especially in loose sand where the GroundGrabba Pro II excels.
GroundGrabba's are quick to put in and fast to take out. With a battery operated drill and a few GroundGrabba's you can have your desert camp locked down tight in no time.
Made out of solid steel, they are durable and won't let you down where cheaper alternatives might perish or break. When you're way out in the desert you need equipment you can rely on. You can rely on the strength, quality and durability of the GroundGrabba Pro series.
Being relatively large you need fewer GroundGrabba's to secure your desert camp and this means less chance of losing them too. Small stakes go missing all the time, especially in loose sand.
GroundGrabba Pro
GroundGrabba Pro for your desert ground anchors and all rounder for most of your camping or outdoor anchoring needs. Made of Galvanized heat treated carbon steel it has a lifetime replacement warranty. For use in most substrate types soft to very hard. In extremely hard desert ground you may need to drill a pilot hole as you would if you were to want to put a screw into concrete.
GroundGrabba Pro II
GroundGrabba Pro II are the perfect desert ground anchors and solution to anchoring in sand or soft earth also especially for large structures. If you enjoy desert exploring you will find the GroundGrabba Pro II has the best anchoring ability you will find. We have personally tested these in a sideways pull tension test to over 1 ton.
HexHook Pro Lag bolt Hook
The HexHook Pro Lag Bolt Hook is an adaptor plate that slides over the top of the hex head of your GroundGrabba or Lag Bolt to make it easy to secure ropes or other tensioning devices. At one end is the hook and the other is a 3/4" hex tool as part of the key slot. Oh... and if you need to open your beer... they're great for that too!
Use Your Cordless Battery Drill
Today we take solar panels, deep cycle batteries, inverters and of course the cordless battery drill. We through all the equipment in the back of the pick up and head out on our camping adventure. From Solar Panels and deep cycle batteries to coffee machines and of course the reliable trusty cordless drill (don't forget your charger).
GroundGrabbas have been designed for speed and ease of use when driven in by a cordeless drill. We recommend at least 18v of high torque and quality. Brushless motors are our choice for either impact wrench or normal drill. Just clip in your 3/4" Hex Socket Driver and away you go.
